I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago with my parents and 2 younger brothers.
While growing up, I played a lot of sports. But my favorites were soccer and swimming. I started swimming competitively at the age of 6 and didn't stop until I finished school. After high school, I went to college at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. I graduated with Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and U.S. History in 1997.
After getting out of college, I went to work for an insurance company in Chicago. I was hired to work on the Y2K problem in the annuity system. After that I stayed on to continue maintaining and upgrading the system.
In 2001, the company decided to upgrade the aging LifeComm system in the Life department. I was involved with that huge project. The system was installed during the Carter Administration so there were 20-something years of changes that had to be worked around. That was a long 2 year project.
In 2003, the company decided that they wanted to change the user interface to the mainframe systems by using a web based front-end system. This system was to be built using Java and XHTML. I was sent to training for java, xml, and web services. During this time, I also learned javascript to enhance the system.
In January 2004, I transferred to the Health Issue Underwriting system to help enhance and maintain the Health Insurance Entry Application.
On December 19, 2004, I married Jamie Wenger.
In May 2007, I transfered to the company data warehouse team. Here I working with Oracle, SQL, and Informatica to take data from the mainframe and load it into the data warehouse for the company to do reporting and research.
In August 2007, Jamie and I moved to the city of Wheaton.
On August 19, 2007, Jamie and I brought home our new member of the family, Angus the dachshund.
